Chhatrapati Shree Shivarai

Chhatrapati Shree Shivarai, popularly known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, was the founder of the Maratha Empire and one of the greatest warrior kings in Indian history. He is remembered for his extraordinary courage, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to establishing “Hindavi Swarajya” (self-rule). Rising against powerful empires of his time, Shivarai built a strong and independent kingdom based on justice, efficient administration, and the welfare of his people.

From a young age, he was deeply influenced by the values and guidance of his mother Jijabai and his mentors, which shaped his strong character and sense of duty. Through brilliant military strategies such as guerrilla warfare (Ganimi Kava), he captured and fortified several important forts, including Torna, Rajgad, and Raigad, laying the foundation of a resilient empire. His well-organized navy and fort architecture showcased his forward-thinking approach to defense and governance.
